A National Tour of
Remembrance, Resilience, and Hope
This November, audiences across Canada will experience the JUNO Award-winning Ukrainian War Requiem, composed by three-time GRAMMY®️ nominee Benedict Sheehan.
Rooted in the Byzantine memorial tradition (panakhyda), this powerful work weaves together ancient Ukrainian, Latin, and Jewish texts and melodies—reflecting Ukraine’s complex history and enduring spirit.
In the face of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, this music serves as both:
a tribute to those lost, and
a living expression of resilience, faith, and cultural identity
Performed by a 50+ voice ensemble featuring singers from Axios Men’s Ensemble and Pro Coro Canada, alongside internationally acclaimed soloists from Ukraine, North America, and Europe, this project represents a rare and deeply meaningful artistic collaboration.
This recording was awarded the JUNO Award for Classical Album of the Year (Large Ensemble)—a historic first for both a Ukrainian choral ensemble and a completely a cappella recording in this category.
